The film poster for 'The Descent' clearly depicts the film as a horror film and the words 'scream your last breath' aim to convince the viewers that the film has a guaranteed scare factor. The imagery on the film poster portrays the film being of the horror genre. The pure white writing - 'The Decent' stands out from the background because it contrasts the blackness in the background. The lighting in the centre of the poster signifies a firey hell sort of image. The quote at the top of the film poster - 'The Best Horror/Thriller since Alien' assures he viewer that this film is highly rated and fantastic to watch. The two woman on the front of the film poster appear to be staring down into a fiery pit which signifies to the viewer that they are about to enbark on a tretrous adventure which will draw the viewers in a make them want to watch the film.
The image in the centre of the screen is also formed in the shape of a skull which will appeal to an audience of people who like to search and look at for a deeper meaning.
The film poster for the film 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' appears to be a romantic movie, however, the character holding the heart seems to be quite comedic in the way that he has curly hair and is wearing a ring of flowers. The information in the heart also tells us that it is a 'romantic disaster movie', which will confirm the viewers idea that this is going to be a funny film. The fact that the film poster has a bright colour theme also steers the viewer away from the idea that this film is going to be solely a romance film. The character holding the heart stands out because he contrasts the plain white background. Viewers who know who Russel Brand is can see that he is playing a part in the film, due to the fact that his name, amongst others is in the heart. This will also mean that people will see this a being a funny film due to Russel Brand being in it.
The writing in the heart in which is held by the character also includes names of past films who were brought by the same people.
For example, the viewers who have seen and liked these films will want to view this film bcause it may show some potential.

This 'Indiana Jones' film poster will stand out instantly due to it's massive color contrast between the grey/silver outskirts and fire-like gold/yellow explosion. This explosion of colors will be an eye-catcher and will grab the attention of the viewers. The film poster itself is clever in the way that you can see that the film is about an adventure, presumably about the man standing in the foreground of the poster. The man holding the whip in the foreground of the poster is overshadowed by what appears to be an evil being. This will draw the audience in as they will tend to develop a curiosity and longing to know the outcome of the evident battle between good and evil. The man in the foreground is shown as being very macho with a solemn expression in his face. He is also holding a whip which my be interpreted as being kinky. This element of slight erotica may also attract female viewers as well as the predominately-male adventure-lovers.

This film poster for the 'Clock Tower' will instantly appeal to lovers of the thriller/horror genre due to the fact that the select choice of colors instantly represents gore and blood with the red title and darkness and evil with the black background. The disturbing and hard-looking face in the background will confirm the viewers idea of this being a horror film. This poster is relatively simple and also obeys the rule of thirds and finds the best places to put the objects in which are most important for the audience to see, for example, the left-hand third is the left hand and razor, similarly with right-hand third, however, the middle third includes the information (film title and names involved) and the macabre face which will confirm the audiences feeling that this film is a 'guaranteed scare' for all horror/thriller lovers.
The white foreground with the evil-looking character is contrasted with the pure black background and really highlights the details of the face which when focused on will really send a chill down one's spine.
The audience are instantly informed with the information of the name of the film because the masthead stands out so well due to the fact that the 'blood-red' really contrasts the black.

The 'Star Trek' film poster obviously has an instant appeal to science fiction film and 'Star Trek' lovers alike. The film has a dark background with an extremely light foreground center which is symbolic of space and the planets in space. The poster is very dynamic in the way that it almost gets straight to the point with a space ship in the middle of the poster. This is informative in the way that anybody looking at the poster will understand that the film is to do with space. There is a character in the background of the film poster at the top of the screen who viewers of the poster, even if they haven't seen 'Star Trek' before, will identify him as being a villain due to the fact that he has an evil smirk. Like many film posters, at the bottom of the poster there is the exact date in which the film will be released in cinemas. This is easy advertizing and will let viewers know how soon they can see the film.

This film poster for 'The Matrix' is very striking because the film appears to be very futuristic, which is significant in the way that it would appeal to a large target audience of science fiction lovers.
The color theme of the poster is important because the shades of silver and grey signify machinery along with weapons. The title of the film stands out due to the fact that there is a blue shade in which covers the word 'Matrix', This makes the word stand out from the background and makes the poster informative also. The character standing in the foreground of the poster seems to be very stylish and interesting too.
His identity seems to be moderately concealed and he is wearing glasses which covers his identity even more so. This will be appealing to people viewing the poster due to the fact that they will be lured into wanting to find out more about this mysterious character, which, of course, can only be achieved by watching the film itself. Another factor which 'sells' the film to the audience is the woman standing in the background. The woman is also very stylish and good-looking which is something which will appeal to a whole gender (men). Stereotypically, 'science geeks' or people who don't have much of a social life or contact with females will also find the woman in the film poster's background very appealing and will perhaps want to watch the film to find out more about her. The fact that all the characters are wearing black symbolizes that they are working together as a team. This will appeal to a large audience because of the fact that people will be drawn in as they will want to see this team battle it out throughout the film.
