Below is a link to my final project.

Soundtrack Change

Instead of the song 'Keep Your Head Up - Ben Howard', I decided to record my own song using an acoustic guitar.
The track was recorded using Garage Band and simply involved two layers.
I decided to record my own song because it allowed me more freedom in terms of developing a more suitable tune to fit particular parts of my project.

The song can be heard individually from this link on YouTube:

Magazine Review Picture (Final)

Here is a few pictures in which I was considering to use for my magazine review page, however, I have come to the conclusion that I will use the bottom:

Voice Over Script

"Surfing is a part of every day life in the island of Jersey and to the people who live here, it's not just a sport, but a lifestyle.
The following documentary is an attempt to expose the hidden secret of one of the best surfing locations in the Channel Islands - Stinky Bay.

Jersey has numerous locations which do receive incoming swell from the channel.
The places include Plemont Bay, The Watersplash, Secrets Beach, Barger Ground and finally, the unknown Stinky Bay.

During my first few days in Jersey, I was getting a feeling that perhaps the local pro's didn't want to expose their secret of a hidden bay and so I decided to ask a few more of the locals about the alleged Stinky Bay.

The locals were acting shift and so I decided to get in contact with a few of the local pro's who have grown up surfing in the island so as to ask them a few questions relating to local surf and the alleged Stinky Bay.

(Interview 1)

I felt as though Connor knew more about Stinky bay than he was letting on and so I decided to set up another interview with local pro Bastien De Ville.

(Interview 2)

Bastien had left behind a map of Jersey's west coast in his interview which gave me a rough location of Stinky Bay so I decided to investigate further.

(Stinky Bay Scene)

To my embarassment and dissapointment I'd reached an anti-climax in my journey.
I had been the subject of a prank by the group of local surfers and the legend of the so-called Stinky Bay was a mere hoax.

Documentary Examples

Documentary Examples:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-6N1436Ink

From the link above we can see that this surf documentary include a wide range of shots. We can also understand that there is footage of waves from the local spots and also interviews with various locals in order to gather their opinions to depict a story and image to the audience.
There is also a voice over which is a frequent feature of many feature length documentaries alike and aids the audiences view of the documnentary whilst depicting a point of view.

From this documentary we can instantly tell what the documentary is about and from the different shots used we can see that this documentary seems to come accross as a bit more 'home-made' which in soem cases is a good factor as is contribute greatly to the realsim of the footage.
The camera shots in this clip of a documentary are not as still as the previous example and evidence suggests that a tripod was not used. However, in this case, like as previously mentioned, it serves as a contribution to the realsim of the project.

The example above is perhaps one of the finests examples and displays of what a quality documentary should be. Although not all of the shots are perfect, the main factor in which this documentary strives is it's ability to tell a story which intrigues the viewers and creates an interesting documentary.
This documentary works around the it's primary subject as well, in the way that it puts on display the lifestyle around surfing and how the people in the documentary lives their lives.

The example above demonstrates how audio from the interviews can overlap the footgae and therefore start earlier for example.
This documentary solely focuses on big wave surfing and unlike a lot of other documentaries, does not include any external features such as lifestyle etc.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egppXS3Ac_o

The above example displays a more home-video style documentary in the way that it is really just one given point of view, focusing one one topic and nothing else.
This example also shows how documentaries can also include archive pictures.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBzydt3fwaw

The above is example is one minute clip of the introduction of a surf documentary and shows how a range of special effects can in fact be incorporated into a documentary such a slow motion etc without breaking the documentary's aim of unfolding the truth in a story.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8weX1_wDIhY

The above example is a documentary in which does stray away from the original storyline, much like my own project.
This documentary includes 'classic surfer music' so as to fit the scene and include verisimilartude.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NZ-2V2FqMM&feature=related

The above example shows how the beginning of documentaries can include voice-overs early on so as to   establish the secne and give the audience a sense of awareness and understanding of the plot and situation early on.

Review

After looking back at my Documentary's review, it is evident that I will need to go back and make one or two minor changed with the text.
